Traffic has reopened on southbound Interstate 95 after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Beltsville, Maryland, Monday night.
The southbound lanes just after Route 200 had been closed for several hours and traffic was being diverted to Route 198 because of the crash.
Maryland State Police said the incident happened just after 11:30 p.m.
In a news release, police said that an unidentified Hispanic male was in a lane of travel on I-95 when a Honda Fit traveling in the southbound lanes struck the pedestrian.
Police said two people who were inside the car told police the driver fled on foot after the crash.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Maryland State Police.
